1. In describing some of the participants’ vulnerability, a gender or intersectional perspective might have provided a more nuanced picture at times. This was most notably the case with participant Dennis, who laments being estranged from his teenage children since getting divorced, arguing for more rights for fathers (94). This is interpreted as a concern for ‘family values’ (95), but, without knowing the details of the case, presumably is more a longing for patriarchal family relations, where women’s and children’s rights are subordinated that of men’s.
