Abstract
Organic arylidene crystal of 2,6-bis(2,6-dichloro benzylidene)cyclohexanone was synthesized by Claissen-Schmidt condensation reaction. Crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique by using the solvent DMF. Its functional groups were identified by FT-IR and they were affirmed by FT-Raman studies. Lattice parameters were confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction method. Optical transparency was calculated by UV-visible-IR studies. Melting point was measured by DSC. Variations of dielectric constant and dielectric loss with frequency were measured by dielectric meter. SHG was measured by Kurtz-Perry method.
