Thread Bearing Witness and Stitch-A-Tree were originally conceived for the Whitworth, the University of Manchester and the Discovery Centre, Winchester. Mary La Trobe-Bateman, OBE MDesRCA, is a freelance curator, writer and lecturer in the applied arts with an extensive knowledge of exhibiting and commissioning craft.
