ABSTRACT
This paper presents the suitability of geogrids made from areca leaf sheaths, as soil reinforcement. The performance of areca geogrids was evaluated through the model footing tests and the same has been compared with the performance of synthetic polymer geogrids as well as coir geotextiles. The effect of embedment depth of areca geogrid within the sand bed on its bearing capacity was presented along with the behavior of multilayered areca geogrid-reinforced sand beds. The performance comparison of areca geogrid-reinforced sand beds with coir geogrid and polymer geogrid-reinforced sand beds showed that the areca grids provided improved performance.

本文介绍了槟榔叶鞘土工格栅作为土壤加固材料的适用性. 通过模型基脚试验对槟榔土工格栅的性能进行了评价,并与合成高分子土工格栅和椰壳纤维土工织物的性能进行了比较. 根据多层槟榔土工格栅加筋砂层的特性,研究了槟榔土工格栅在砂层中的埋置深度对其承载力的影响. 通过对槟榔土工格栅加筋砂床与椰壳土工格栅加筋砂床和聚合物土工格栅加筋砂床的性能比较,表明槟榔土工格栅加筋砂床具有较好的性能.
