Enhancement of Mechanical Behavior of PLA Matrix Using Tamarind and Date Seed Micro Fillers

ABSTRACT

This paper reports the mechanical properties of PLA composites incorporated with tamarind and date seed Micro fillers. The composites were manufactured through compression molding technique. The tensile results showed that the seed filler reinforcement has significantly improved the tensile strength of PLA matrix. The particulate reinforcements of both tamarind and palm almost doubled the flexural and impact strength of PLA matrix. Moreover, the date seed powder incorporated composites showed 34.68% improvement in micro hardness but the tamarind seed powder composite showed only marginal improvement (9.82%) when compared with neat PLA. Furthermore, the outcomes revealed that the wt.% of fillers play a noteworthy role in deciding the properties of the PLA composites.

本文研究了罗望子、枣子籽微填料与聚乳酸复合材料的力学性能. 采用模压工艺制备了复合材料. 拉伸试验结果表明,种子填充增强剂显著提高了PLA基体的拉伸强度. 罗望子和棕榈的颗粒增强几乎使PLA基体的弯曲强度和冲击强度增加了一倍. 此外,与纯PLA相比,红枣籽粉复合材料的显微硬度提高了34.68%,罗望子籽粉复合材料的显微硬度仅略有提高(9.82%). 此外,结果表明,填料的重量百分比在决定PLA复合材料的性能方面起着重要的作用.
