Selective and efficient desulfurization of thiiranes with Mo(CO)₆

ABSTRACT

Mo(CO)₆ converts a broad range of thiiranes to the corresponding alkenes in high yields under neutral conditions. It has been found that this protocol is chemoselective and tolerates a variety of functional groups such as chloro, bromo, fluoro, ester, methoxy, ether and keto.
