ABSTRACT
The burst pressure of the perforated-steel strip composite pipe (PSSCP) considering plasticity is investigated through experimental, theoretical and numerical methods in this paper. The results obtained from the mentioned methods are in good agreement with each other, which illustrates the accuracy and reliability of the proposed theoretical and numerical models. The burst pressure of the pipe is studied in detail at the different temperature conditions. Some influential parameters of PSSCP on the burst pressure are also investigated in order to guide its cross-section design. The theoretical model and the finite element model proposed in this paper can not only give an estimation of the safety and reliability of the pipe when it is subjected to internal pressure, but can also provide some reference for improving and optimising its cross-section design.

Thanks to Zhejiang University offering the experiment equipment, a full-scale experiment can be done at Research Lab for Civil Engineering in China to study the mechanical behaviour of PSSCP subjected to innernal pressure. The specimens used in the experiment are manufactured by Jiangsu Fasten Advanced Pipelines Co., Ltd.
