Abstract

Purpose

To design an adaptive shade above the wheelchair usable with both manual and electric wheelchair.

Method

The standard measurement of the wheelchair has been considered to take the shade measurement. This adaptive shade can be customized as per the different standards.

Result

Simply operable adaptive shade has been designed with low cost (60 SR only)

Conclusion

This manually operated adaptive shade can be greatly used with a wheelchair in the area where rain is very common and it stays for a long time. The injured people or the patients can use this adaptive shade with a wheelchair and can perform their daily activities like a normal person.

    IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION

  • This new and innovative idea about adaptive shade on the wheelchair can give the researchers an area to think about how they can improve more than 75 million people’s lifestyles and make them self-dependent who are unable to walk.

  • The proposed designed shade can give protection to the people who have walking impairments during the rainy season at a very low cost.
