Abstract
This appeal, signed by a cross-section of German architects, planners, and intellectuals, calls for a rebuilding of German cities not along old forms but “for new tasks and in a new form.” It calls for a new architectural beginning for a new era. Yet, many of the signatories were involved in Third Reich building projects, thus demonstrating problematic continuity rather than complete rupture.
