The Network of Household Barriers to Achieving SDG 1, 2 and 3 in Maputo, Mozambique

ABSTRACT

It has been theorized that network relationships link the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in both synergistic and obstructive relationships. Using household survey data collected in Maputo, this investigation assesses these relationships in a case study of SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 1 (No Poverty) in Maputo, Mozambique. The results indicate that these households with chronically ill members have a slightly increased odds of experiencing poverty and food insecurity and tend to experience these challenges concurrently. This investigation highlights some of the challenges for achieving these SDGs in Maputo.
