Abstract

This research investigated continuous rectangular spiral shear reinforcement as transverse reinforcement under pure torsion and compared it with conventional concrete beams. This present study tested three different continuous rectangular spiral stirrup (80°, 75°, and 45°) and one with traditional type stirrup (90°). M30 grade concrete and Fe 415 steel were used. The Test results indicate that the maximum ultimate torque at 75° is 32 kNm. Also, the maximum percentage increase in ductility is 19%. The maximum stiffness was observed at 80° stirrups is 2104 kN.m/radians.
