Charlotte Eubanks

Charlotte Eubanks is Professor of Comparative Literature, Japanese, and Asian Studies at Penn State. Their first book Miracles of Book and Body: Buddhist Textual Culture and Medieval Japan examines the relationship between human body and sacred text, while their second book The Art of Persistence: Akamatsu Toshiko and the Visual Cultures of Transwar Japan outlines the possibilities for anti-colonial art in imperial Japan. Their current work focuses on sonic patterning in sutra recitation praxis.
