ABSTRACT
Opportunities for school counselors to engage in advocacy through leadership, collaboration, and systemic change are plentiful, and advocacy related to disciplinary practices is important given the inequities often reported. This study explored the roles 84 school counselors held in relation to discipline within the framework of the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) best practice guidelines. Results reflected roles consistent with ASCA’s guidelines as well as opportunities for improvement. Targeted recommendations for advocacy are shared.
