Assimilation of Mechanical properties of reinforced aluminum, stainless steel wire mesh with glass fiber epoxy hybrid composites for aircraft application

ABSTRACT

The aim of this research is to assimilate the properties of reinforced aluminium, stainless steel wire mesh with glass fibre epoxy hybrid composites. The fore mentioned entities cropped in rectangular planes, blended with epoxy resins and dried for stipulated period to harden the fabricated material. The objective to conduct experiment is to appraise mechanical properties of aircraft fuselage. Mechanical properties such as impact strength, ultimate tensile strength are measured on versatile universal testing machine in research laboratory and principle stresses are predicted for the designed modelled of CATIA through ANSYS workbench. The specimens considered for testing are stainless steel and Aluminium. The maximum energy absorbed by the stainless steel and aluminium under impact test is 6.2 J, 5.4 J respectively. Further, the designed model is tested in ANSYS workbench for principle stresses under 100 N of force each. The results shows that the fabricated model functions to certain limit of load conditions and the dynamic analysis shall be conducted to ascertain more properties which is suggested for future scope.
