Notes on contributors

Stephan Kloos

Stephan Kloos received his PhD in 2010 from the Universities of California, San Francisco and Berkeley (joint PhD program), and works as a medical anthropologist at the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Social Anthropology. His research focuses on the development of contemporary Asian medicine, in particular Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan, Mongolian, Himalayan medicine), through the twentieth century to the present. Having directed the European Research Council project Reassembling Tibetan Medicine (RATIMED; ratimed.net) from 2014 to 2019, he continues to critically engage with Sowa Rigpa and other Asian medicines as integral parts of modern Asia and, increasingly, global health.
