PLACE Design a place that respects the Indigenous histories and living cultures of Country. Provide places for people not private vehicles. Provide safe cycling connections for all ages and abilities. Provide a safe and accessible space for all. Support Elizabeth Street as a primary public transport corridor. Provide a safe and generous pedestrian experience. PEOPLE Connect a network of green spaces that support the needs of the community and strengthen the identity of the precinct. Use local materials that are sympathetic to the character and heritage of place. Introduce native trees and plantings that reflect the local landscape and seasons. Create a comfortable space that works with the climatic conditions of the site. Ensure a flexible design that can be adapted over time as part of an emerging precinct. Integrate urban artworks on blank façades by engaging local artists. PROGRAM Support local traders through flexible outdoor dining and trading areas. Design spaces for lingering that encourages group interaction and socialising and individual reflection. Provide a calendar of events and spaces for impromptu performance. Encourage safe night time use through integrated lighting and activities. Facilitate community exchange through interpretive signage, engagement points and digital content.
