Effect of Ultrasonication on the Growth and Properties of Lithium Sulphate Piezoelectric Crystals

Abstract

Piezoelectric single crystals of lithium sulphate were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique by normal saturation and sonication at ambient room temperature. The cell parameters and crystalline nature of the grown crystals were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The morphological behaviour of lithium sulphate crystals was analyzed by a scanning electron microscope. The presence of functional groups of the crystallized molecules was identified by FTIR spectral analysis. Transmission range of the crystals was determined by UV-visible (UV) spectra. Optical absorption study reveals the transparency of the crystal in the entire visible region.
