Five ways to evaluate

Pages 763-767 | Received 11 Jun 2003, Published online: 20 Feb 2007

Abstract

A classical (Laplace) integral

is considered that is usually evaluated via complex variables. However, four different ways to evaluate the integral are presented using only real variables. The methods used span a wide range of areas in mathematics including differential equations, Laplace transform, and advanced calculus. The methods used are employed to evaluate some general integrals.
