World awareness for children in trauma: capacity-building activities of a psychosocial program

Pages 323-329 | Published online: 13 May 2019

Abstract

Children in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have high levels of unmet mental health needs. Barriers include stigma, lack of culturally appropriate interventions, and limited resources and staff competencies. This article describes the capacity-building activities of a global child mental health program that particularly targets vulnerable children and communities, with emerging supporting evidence. Capacity-building includes complementary psychoeducational materials, interdisciplinary practice-focused training, digital learning, and a manualized service transformation program.
