1. Pension-plan participants are allotted half the trustee seats in multiemployer plans, fewer with public plans, especially in red states, and none in the case of single-employer plans. The Florida state plan has three trustees: the Governor (currently Ron DeSantis). the Attorney General, and a financial officer who serves at their discretion.
2. The future of private versus public systems for retirement benefits is beyond the scope of my study. I recommend retirement proposals developed by experts such as Teresa Ghilarducci and Alicia Munnell, as well as by the National Academy of Social Insurance and the National Institute of Retirement Security.
