Abstract
Non-adiabatic energies are computed for all bound J ≤ 10 levels of the a state of the hydrogen molecule. A comparison with the multichannel quantum-defect theory results of Ross and Jungen [S. C. Ross and Ch. Jungen, Phys. Rev. A 50, 4618 (1995)] shows small but systematic discrepancies for higher vibrational quantum numbers. The discrepancies are briefly discussed but their origin is not clear. The agreement with existing experimental results is quite favourable.
