Abstract
The reactive diionic intermediate generated by the addition of triphenylphosphine to electron-deficient acetylenic esters or ketones was trapped by mercaptoesters such as mercaptothioglycolate or methyl 3-mercaptopropanoate to produce substituted furans, vinyl sulfides, or dithioesters.
