Abstract

Flexible polyaniline/nylon composites were produced using aniline as a monomer by in-situ polymerization, p-toluene sulfonic acid as the doping agent and ammonium persulfate as the oxidant on the nylon fabric; the influences of the aniline concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time on the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant, the loss tangent and the surface resistance of polyaniline/nylon composites were mainly investigated. The results showed that the aniline concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time had a major influence on the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant, the loss tangent and the surface resistance of polyaniline/nylon composites; the prepared polyaniline/nylon composites had the good dielectric properties and conductivity. When the concentration of aniline was 0.4 mol/L, the value of the real part of the dielectric constant of polyaniline/nylon composites reached the maximum value. In the whole study frequency range, the surface resistance was the smallest, the conductivity was the best. When the concentration of aniline was 0.5 mol/L, the values of the imaginary part of the dielectric constant and the loss tangent value reached the maximums. When the reaction temperature was 70 °C, the values of the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant, the loss tangent and the surface resistance of polyaniline/nylon composites reached the maximums, the surface resistance was the smallest, the conductivity was the best. When the reaction time was 1.5 h, the values of the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant reached the maximums. When the reaction time was 1 h, the loss tangent value was the maximum, and the surface resistance was the smallest, the conductivity was the best.
