Abstract

Natural convective mass transfer from upward-pointing vertical cones, embedded in saturated porous media, has been studied using the limiting diffusion current technique (LDCT). The measured mass transfer coefficients are correlated by, , where , , and D a l are modified Sherwood number, modified Rayleigh number, and Darcy number, respectively. The correlation is expected to predict well in the range of from 7.8 × 104 to 7.6 × 106and in the range of Da l from 1.09 × 10−6 to 6.05 × 10−4.
