ABSTRACT
Conventional cooling techniques consume more energy and it leads to negative environmental impacts. Thermal energy storage systems are essential to reduce energy conservation. Free cooling has attracted considerable attention in the last few years. The free cooling concept is a process of storing energy at daytime and releasing it on night time. The objective of this work is to maintain the room temperature constant and to conserve energy. The PCM (phase change material) is kept inside the ceiling to absorb and store the energy inside it. The inclusion of thermal energy storage in a constructive way could promote these systems in the residential building. Thus by using PCM on the ceiling, the temperature of the building is maintained constant at a very cheap cost. Also, by increasing the mass of the PCM that has been integrated provides controlled room temperature for a longer time.
