Abstract
This article provides a taxonomic description of Siculobata talarica sp. nov. collected from native forest soil of Buenos Aires, Argentina. This new species was compared to its conspecifics: Siculobata sicula and Siculobata malabarica, respectively. After a status and affinity revision among Siculobata, Metaleius, Paraleius, Vesiculobates and Floribates, the taxonomic concept of Siculobata is reconsidered and a more accurate diagnosis of its genus is proposed.

Notes
1. Nevertheless, for the acarologists working at the Neotropical Region, the keys by Balogh and Balogh (Citation1988, 1992a) are currently the most comprehensive.
2. Berlese added a dorsal illustration in a subsequent work (Berlese Citation1910, Fig. 88).
