Abstract

The inhibition effects of two phthalocyanine sulfonates on aluminum alloy 7075 were investigated in this study. The gravimetric test showed that the two compounds effectively inhibited the exfoliation corrosion of aluminum alloy 7075 in 1 mol/L hydrochloric acid. The electrochemical test showed the phthalocyanine sulfonates mainly acted as mixed-type inhibitors. The molecular dynamic simulation indicated that the phthalocyanine inhibitors selectively adsorbed on aluminum atoms, which inhibited the dealloying of aluminum from the alloy surface. In XPS analysis, the chemical adsorption between aluminum and phthalocyanine inhibitors was proven by the changes in the electronic binding energy of Al and N.
