Abstract
We report a kind of exquisite morphologies of gold nanoparticles in a polyol process. While the reactants were dropped into the boiling ethylene glycol (EG) by different methods accompanying filtration and classification, we readily access the distinct morphologies such as sheet hexagon, nano-rods and icosahedron with good uniformity in the presence of the surface-regulating polymer poly (vinyl pyrrolidone; PVP) though scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV-vis) were used to examine the trend on morphology of gold nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis has been employed to study the structural characterization and formation process. The results showed that the gold nanoparticles with different size and shapes displayed well-defined morphologies.
