Abstract
The effect of various concentration of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) on the precipitation of barium sulfate (BaSO4) was investigated. Flower-shaped BaSO4 nanoparticles were synthesized in the presence of DTAB. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the morphologies and structures of BaSO4 crystals. On the basis of the characterizations, a possible formation mechanism was proposed.
