Abstract
A hybrid composite based on the intercalation of methotrexate (MTX) into the layered double hydroxides (LDHs) has been synthesized by the ion exchange technique. The influence of layer charges, altered by the molar ratio of Mg element to Al, on the property of MTX/LDH compounds has been studied. It was found that the layer charges decreased gradually when the molar ratio of Mg to Al changed from 2:1 to 3:1 last to 4:1, and the layer charges had prominent effect on the properties of the samples. The crystallinity degree and the interlayer spacing increased gradually, the morphology changed from the platelet to coagulated structure as the layer charges decreased. Moreover, the thermogravimetric (TG) results showed that the MTX molecules in the LDH interlayer had the enhanced stability.
