ABSTRACT
This review article focuses on 1λ3-phosphaalkene compounds derived from phosphines containing at least one silicon-phosphorous bond. 1λ3-Phosphaalkene compounds are of high value as they are used to form several phosphorous compounds containing a transition metal and main group elements. In addition to the fact that different kinds of 1λ3-phosphaalkynes are prepared from 1λ3-phosphaalkenes. Both families of phosphorous compounds; 1λ3-phosphaalkenes and 1λ3-phosphaalkynes have become important to chemists, as they are used in preparing several phosphorous compounds to be used as homogeneous catalysts in chemical reactions.

Highlights
The preparation of 1λ3-phosphaalkenes from sources of phosphine containing a silicon phosphorous bonding can be an interesting method of phosphorous compounds production.
1λ3-Phosphaalkenes can be ascribed a reactivity similar to that of the olefins.
The P–C bond of inversely polarized 1λ3-phosphaalkenes is weak compared to normally polarized alkylidene phosphines.
1λ3-Phosphaalkene compounds are of high value as they are used to form several phosphorous compounds.
