Abstract
Federal and State Governments provide childcare subsidies for low‐income working families. This study compares the encountered issues and working environments of family home providers of subsidized and non‐subsidized childcare. Questionnaires were distributed throughout a southeastern state in the United States to 548 family home childcare providers. Differences between subsidized and non‐subsidized providers with regard to their perspectives on training, staff sizes and availability of care are discussed.
