ABSTRACT

It is essential to have a predictable springback in metals to get accurate dimensions after bending. In recent years, various studies have been conducted about the springback to minimize it. Two of the most studied factors were sheet metal thickness and bending angle. However, these factors were studied independently despite every factor having interaction effects with each other. Unlike the literature, this study investigated both singular and combined effects, which allows clarifying their interaction effects and comparing the power of their impacts. High strength Dual-Phased Steel , widely used due to its unique properties mainly in the automotive industry, was preferred as a specimen material. The results were recorded to Design-Expert software. ANOVA and regression analyses were executed. It was seen that the springback decreased when the bending angle was decreased or the thickness was increased. The analyses showed the effect of thickness is more significant compared to the bending angle.
