ABSTRACT

Oil is an important industrial raw material used as both a fuel and energy source and is the pillar of national economies. With the development of the petroleum industry, oil pollution is becoming increasingly serious and is one of the major pollutants. Bioremediation has become the main remediation method for the treatment of environmental pollutants owing to its advantages such as low resource consumption, high efficiency, absence of secondary pollution, environment-friendly, etc. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of Suaeda heteroptera–microorganisms–Nereis succinea on the activities of soil enzymes (including dehydrogenase, catalase, urease, and amylase) in petroleum-contaminated soil. A pot experiment was performed to determine the effects of Suaeda heteroptera, Suaeda heteroptera – microorganisms, and Suaeda heteroptera –microorganisms – Nereis succinea on oil pollution. While petroleum contamination decreased the soil dehydrogenase, catalase, urease, and amylase activities, Suaeda heteroptera –microorganisms – Nereis succinea improved the activities of these enzymes. Thus, Suaeda heteroptera – microorganisms – Nereis succinea could be employed to recover the soil polluted by oil.
