In a polemical article in the catalogue of the Tate Britain exhibition The Lure of the East, Kabbani complained that British artists forgot to show ‘strikes, riots, rebellions, repressions’ etc. This evoked the comment by Richard Dorment in the Daily Telegraph: ‘Could someone please explain to Ms Kabbani that these paintings are by artists, not by investigative reporters working for BBC news?’
