Figure 1.  NDV genome. Updated from Millar & Emerson (1988). The order of the genes is shown in the middle row, the size of the genes (in nucleotides) is shown in the bottom row and the number of nucleotides making up intergenic and leader regions is shown in the top row. Gene P has been shown to have two overlapping open reading frames and also codes for the V protein (Steward et al., 1993). Where a size range is shown these are the values recorded for different NDVs.
