Abstract
Since the information diffusion technique was suggested, it has been applied in many fields. However, the experiential window-width used in this technique is too rough. To overcome the shortcoming, this paper suggests an approach to obtain the optimal window-width that can be developed into a powerful tool to promote the study of the information diffusion technique.

Wang Xinzhou, Ph.D., was born on 7th February, 1954 in Hubei, China. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree from Wuhan Institute of Geodesy and Cartography in 1982, he first went to work in the Huangshi Coal Mine. One year later, he became a teacher at Wuhan Electric Power School, in Hubei Province. In 1991, he obtained his Master's degree from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping and also completed his Ph.D. at this university in 1994. He then stayed in the School of Geodesy and Geomatics of Wuhan University as a professor. He has concentrated on the research and education in the theory and application of surveying data processing. His cardinal achievement includes the following fields: the nonlinear model parameter estimation theory and its application; fuzzy spatial information processing. He is the author of two books and over 100 papers.
You Yangsheng was born in Chongqing City, People's Republic of China, in 1971. He is a Ph.D. candidate majoring in Geodesy and Geomatics at the School of Geodesy & Geomatics, Wuhan University. His research interest lies mainly in the theories of surveying-data-processing and its applications. Tang Yongjing, Ph.D., is vice professor of Tongji University. She has concentrated on the research and education in the theory and application of civil engineering. She is interested in the following fields: the parameter estimation theory and its application of nonlinear model; research on structure of Metro station. More than 20 papers have been published.
