This research was conducted through a partnership between the Indifly Foundation, Carleton University, University of Hawaii, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and Hinano Bagnis. Alexander Filous, Sascha Clark Danylchuk, Andy Danylchuk, Jacob Brownscombe, Alan Friedlander, and Steven Cooke all made this study possible. We worked with great assistance from Rafael, Ganaanui, and Louise Raveino and the people of Anaa. I also thank Costa del Mar, Patagonia Inc., Nautilus Fly Reels, G. Loomis, RIO Products, and Umpqua Feather Merchants for supporting our research in Anaa. My trip was supported by a George R. Carmody travel award from Carleton University.
