Abstract
Power generation with load optimization is an extremely important process for better planning and successful operation of the electrical power system especially in the present scenario of deregulated electricity market conditions. To increase the generation share of renewable energy resources with existing supply system, it is imperative needed that the system should not suffer problems due to congestion, voltage stability, and security. This paper presents load balancing by minimization and optimization of variety of loads when applied to pool and hybrid market designs with the application of flexible alternative current transmission system (FACTS) devices for congestion mitigation with high penetration of wind power into the existing power generation systems. Designing and comparison of multiple FACTS devices like SSSC, STATCOM, UPFC, and IPFC have been done for optimal power flow with congestion derogation so as to ensure system voltage stability within the limits. The impact of FACTS devices for high level of wind penetration with (Load index) Sensitivity Factor is also implemented for load optimization using optimal power flow to increase power flow with congestion mitigation for the wind-integrated system.

Satish Kumar (M’1979) is with Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, KIET Group of Institutions Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad. He received the BSc engineering degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Faculty of Engineering Dayalbagh University, Dayalbagh Agra, UP, India, in 2001, and MTech in electrical engineering (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) from Aligarh Muslim University, AMU Aligarh, UP India, in 2004. He received his PhD degree from Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. His research area includes voltage stability issues with conventional grid, modelling of FACTS devices, their application and placements in renewables, wind energy systems, and economic operation of power system with wind systems congestion management in deregulated power systems. He is a member of IEEE.

Ashwani Kumar
Ashwani Kumar (M’ 1965) did his BTech from GBPUAT, Pant Nagar in 1988 and masters from PU Chandigarh in 1994 with honours. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in 2003. Currently, he is professor with Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana. His research area includes power systems restructuring, distributed generation and renewable energy systems, FACTS applications to power systems, power system dynamics, transmission price forecasting, & congestion management, demand side management, electricity price forecasting.
