Do This, Not That: Important Pedagogies for Secondary School Physical Education Teachers

&
Pages 23-27 | Published online: 31 Aug 2018

Abstract

This article discusses five strategies that have been frequently taught to teachers, but less frequently implemented by teachers, and that impact student learning, namely: teaching skills in games contexts, using small-sided games, starting lessons immediately, teaching beyond the standards, and teaching skills and games in an incremental manner. Using these pedagogical strategies can transform physical education lessons and improve student learning in significant way.
