John Zimmerman

John Zimmerman ([email protected] https://www.hcii.cmu.edu/people/john-zimmerman) is the Tang Family Professor of AI and HCI at Carnegie Mellon’s HCI Institute. Trained in interaction design, John worked as a professional designer before making the transition to research more than twenty years ago. He is best known for his work on Research through Design as an approach to research within HCI. His current research interests include human-AI interaction and research on how designers can engage with AI as a design material. He teaches courses on interaction design, service design, lean startup, and on the design of AI products and services.
