Abstract
Many research studies have examined the benefits student internships offer students and employers, but few looked at the benefits internships might lend to educational institutions. A survey instrument was developed and sent to 619 deans of all U.S. business programs. In all, 29% replied. The results indicate some institutions are gaining the benefits available from internship programs. Of all respondents, 34% reported internships inspired students to open new businesses; 87% reported that the business schools felt a stronger connection to the community; and 81% reported that reputation is affected by internships.
