Irena Yamboliev holds her PhD from Stanford University, where she lectures. Her book project, Ornamental Form in the Victorian Novel, examines writers’ using the decorative arts as formal models for their realist narratives. Her essays appear in Victorian Literature and Culture and Twentieth-Century Literature. She is writing a critical companion to Jeffrey Eugenides’s Middlesex, and beginning a book-length study of the way post-Darwinian discourses about plant “society” fueled Victorian literary posthumanisms and queer environmentalities avant-la-lettre.
