Emir Rodríguez Monegal

Emir Rodríguez Monegal (1921-1985), the Uruguayan scholar and critic, founded and edited the influential literary journal Mundo Nuevo in Paris, from 1966 to 1968, before becoming a professor of Latin American literature at Yale University. Among his many books was a 1966 biography of Neruda and the monumental Jorge Luis Borges: A Literary Biography (1978).
