Abstract

Most of the materials published in relation to the Sport Education model have developed games and sports seasons. However, the potential of Sport Education has been tested with other content, such as fitness activities. The educational potential of Sport Education and motivational impact on students might make it an alternative to the traditional fitness methodologies in physical education (PE). Therefore, combining Sport Education with functional training exercises and foundational movements (FTE-FM) and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), which have proven to be especially effective in achieving health and fitness goals, could make fitness as PE content more motivating and educational. This article describes how to integrate FTE-FM and HIIT into a season of fitness, using Sport Education in PE with a game-based approach (GB-HIIT).
