Abstract

The performance of terahertz wavemeter based on scanning Fabry–Perot interferometer is discussed in detail. In order to evaluate the absolute accuracy of this kind of wavemeter, the accuracy dependency on some key parameters of the wavemeter, such as the finesse, step size, interference order and noise level, is discussed quantitatively. Two different methods for determining the unknown wavelength are compared in their uncertainty of measurement results. Based on the above analysis, the optimum use of the wavemeter is discussed.
