Problems of brazing cermets and steels over large surfaces

Pages 585-592 | Published online: 14 Oct 2011

Abstract

This article concerns the problems of manufacturing abrasion-resistant layers over large surface areas covered with cermet plates. Test plates were soldered to precipitation-hardened stainless steel using the vacuum brazing process. The effect of brazing gap geometric parameters on microstructure, material properties, and joint quality were all analyzed. The main factors which limit the possibilities of making high-quality joints in the vacuum brazing process were defined.
