Abstract
This paper is about ethical principles and human rights. It focuses on the Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists (International Union of Psychological Science, 2008) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations, 1948). It shows that both declarations are mutually supportive, but also different. It highlights the role of each declaration in the building of a better world globally. The need to focus on ethics-based education and training for promoting and reaffirming human rights in community mental health services in the world's many different countries and cultures is discussed.
