1. In the UK the main funding body for postgraduate research is the Arts and Humanities Research Council (www.ahrc.ac.uk), whose application forms for graduate and university research stipulate the distinct headings of aim, objective, research context, method and outcome. These distinctions and requirements are also demanded by the other UK funding bodies, the British Academy and Leverhulme Foundation. Similar research descriptions are demanded by the Australia Research Council, where “national benefit” is also an essential category for research projects.
