Abstract
The preparation of 2-aryl-3,3-bis((perfluoroalkyl)thio)acrylonitriles is described. The electrogenerated cyanomethyl base/anion obtained from electroreduction of acetonitrile promotes reactions between arylacetonitrile, carbon disulfide, and perfluoroalkyl iodides. The new fluorinated acrylonitriles were obtained in good yields under mild reaction conditions.
